Fairness according to the Tories

I saw the advert which tells potential home-owners that if they can afford to save for the deposit to a house, then the Government will contribute a maximum of £3000 towards this.
So, if you are wealthy, and can afford a deposit – and so therefore a mortgage – this generous Tory government will assist you in making the biggest purchase of your life.

At the other end of the spectrum, if you are poor, and live on benefits in rented accommodation with a spare bedroom, this generous Tory government will deduct 13% from your housing benefit and cause you to pay the 13% of the rent from your meagre Job Seekers Allowance or Sickness Benefit or Employment Support Allowance.

The poor ARE subsidising the rich.

But it has always been thus.

Politicians and Millionaires.

I heard a Liberal peer BBC radio 5live this morning.
I don’t know if the poor dear was asthmatic, or just trying (& failing) to sound sexy with her breathless voice.
She was being ‘interviewed’ by multi-millionaire presenter, Adrian Chiles.
So, two WEALTHY people chatting on the radio about government measures that will effectively force some poor people even more deeply into poverty.
…as if it is a subject of which they have first-hand experience….

She was telling him that the government plans to cut-back Tax-credits will lead to many low-paid families losing up to £3,000 a year.
She was asking that the lords vote against this move so that the government could then have time to think again.
She rounded-off by adding that if the Government brought forward proposals that meant only NEW claimants would lose-out, that this would be easily passed by the house of lords.

So, actually, she doesn’t mind certain people being forced into poverty.

New Labour v Real Labour

Yvette Cooper Blogs: ‘There’s a Battle on for the Soul of Our Party’
Labour – NEW Labour – has a middle-class soul!
Corbyn’s lead in the polls and the potential of him becoming leader is scaring the pants off some Labour politicians.
If he is elected, it will because he has received more votes than other candidates – so he will have been elected democratically.
It will have been sown that he is the preferred choice.
But we hear some new Labour MP’s squealing that the vote has been ‘fixed’ or twisted by voters who are from other parties.
I think, really, they are just afraid of finding-out that REAL labour still lurks in their poshed-up party.

Now we’ve got a bloke whose dad was a toolmaker running the show…….

And the Tories have fucked-up proper………

I think Sir Keir will become PM – then we’ll find things out…….

Greece – Europe humiliates the home of democracy

So Europe (Germany) has forced the Greek government into accepting an agreement to rescue them from their financial troubles that is tougher than the agreement the Greek population voted against in a referendum last week!

The country that invented democracy has been unable to practice it!

Bloody politicians!

The EU is a political idea – a political entity – a political construction

The politicians have decided to make the poor pay for the mistakes (crimes) of the bankers once again!

Why claim to be a democratic movement if they ignore the wishes of the people?

EH?

This Tory Governments philosophy –

If you have a lot – you get more.
Among other things:
30 hours per week free child-care.
Help for first-time buyers.
Tax-cuts for the rich.

But –

If you have little (or nothing at all) “we will take it ALL away from you!”

The need for voting reform. The need for democracy.

I heard Margaret Becket – that wonderful Labour politician of old, ‘pronouncing’ on democracy, yesterday.
She was replying to some point about how we needed voting reform.
About how unfair it was that UKIP and the greens got a total of 5 million votes but only 2 MP’s between them.
She announced that we “didn’t need voting reform” – that the people had “Spoken!”
Oh no they haven’t, Ms Becket –
= She said that, in 2010, the people wanted a coalition and so they got one.
And that in 2015, they wanted the Tories and so they got them.
NO! They didn’t say that, Ms Becket – 37% of those who voted wanted the Tories – 63% of those who voted DIDN’T want the Tories.
So the people didn’t ask for what they got – the way the votes are counted gave them what the system decided!
The people DID NOT decide.
The voting system we have at the moment gives Politicians what they want – it gives them the final say.
There is no democracy in Britain – democracy only exists in Westminster.
We have a parliamentary democracy – a democracy that is, ultimately, in the control of the Politicians.

Housing sell-off

Remember nice Mr David Cameron, our wonderful leader, all that time ago, when he stated that social housing should be for those in need.
When he said, that nice, smoochy David Cameron, that when tenants of social housing reached a certain earnings limit, that they would have to move.
Remember.
The thoughts of David Cameron.
He thought it a good idea to insist that those who could afford it should vacate social housing – that those who had reached a level of wealth that allowed them to, to leave and buy their own home in the private sector.
Remember?
Well, now, nice, smoochy, gorgeously beautiful David Cameron has had second thoughts.
Maybe someone who is his senior in Government (a Tory Grandee) has decided it would buy the Tories more votes to give-away (sell-off at a huge discount – same thing, basically.) houses in the social sector.
So, to further divide a divided Britain, a second sell-off of homes is to be legislated for.
A shredded Britain will ensure.
A Britain that dangles from the lamp-posts like strips of cheap rag will result.
Everyone is out for themselves.
No one wants to pay for anyone else.
But how long will it be before people realise that everyone pays for everyone else in Capitalism.
We all pay the profits, we all pay the benefits.
